Dr. Denia Tapscott, M.D.
Dr. Denia Tapscott is a board-certified Internal Medicine Physician trained at Georgetown University's School of Medicine. Over the last 19 years she has been practicing medicine with a focus on bariatric and preventive medicine and more recently, functional medicine.
After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014, Dr. Tapscott was confronted with her own health challenges. She began to explore alternative approaches that could (1) answer the question, why and (2) help her begin the healing process. Although she did not abandon conventional medicine entirely, she gained a greater appreciation for her condition by using functional medicine, and she continues to implement healthy living with her family.
She now fully integrates this methodology into her current medical practice - providing personalized, predictive, participatory, and preventive care to her patients.
Dr. Tapscott is a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) and has developed and directed several hospital affiliated medical and surgical weight loss programs. She is a published author and has been recognized for her leadership role in the health care community.
Dr. Tapscott attended the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, and has served as an Associate Professor of Medicine at Howard University.
